The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, raised a saffron-coloured flag over the Ayodhya Ram Mandir and completed the construction of the Temple. The flag – hoisted at a sacred time known as Abhijit Muhurat, which had deep symbolic meaning because of the spiritual significance of that time according to the Hindu tradition. The Prime Minister stated that the Flag represented truth, determination, and indomitable will, and encouraged devotees to keep their promises, no matter what the personal consequences or sacrifices.
Modi stated that this day is historic as the pain and suffering of many centuries has been wiped away, closure for the generations of worshippers. The Temple now serves as a beacon for Ram’s values and an embodiment of his transformation from a Prince to a Righteous King. The ceremony – attended by prominent leaders such as Mohan Bhagwat (RSS Chief) and Yogi Adityanath (Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh), who shared in the historic occasion. There was a great feeling across the Country as many devotees celebrated the culmination of a long cultural journey.
The symbolism
The design of the flag represents a multitude of symbols that grew out of Hindu culture. Measuring 10×20 feet, this flag includes three sacred emblems: the sun, which depicts Lord Ram’s superior strength and valor; the Om symbol, which depicts the spiritual component of life; and the Kovidara tree, located in India and represents purity and enlightenment according to Hindu beliefs.
According to temple officials, saffron is representative of fire and represents rising sun and the elements of sacrifice, devotion and loyalty. The officials also stated that this event marked the completion of all preparations for the temple almost two years ago from the day of the Pran Pratistha ceremony.
PM Modi said the temple flag should inspire people to awaken spiritually and guide the country to dedicate itself to Dharma, the order of life governed by truth. He stated the phrase “Pran jaye par vachan na jaye” to illustrate that the temple promotes integrity.

The ceremony has importance nationwide because it signifies the conclusion of a cultural undertaking that occurred over hundreds of years. As described by PM Modi, The temple now stands in its magnificent form represents the beginning of healing from the wounds of history. The Prime Minister noted that the overwhelming majority of India now experiences the spirit of Ram and derives extraordinary emotional satisfaction from this experience.
