Deputy CMs Samrat Choudhary, Vijay Sinha Lead the Race

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday announced 71 candidates for the Bihar Assembly elections. The list inlcudes both Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha at the center of its campaign.
Choudhary will be fielded from Tarapur, taking over a seat previously occupied by both his parents, Parvati Devi and Shakuni Choudhary. The BJP high command feels his induction there consolidates the party’s position in southern Bihar. Choudhary has previously represented Parbatta twice — in 2000 and 2010.
Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha will contest from Lakhisarai, reasserting his political stronghold even after a controversy over his voter registration cropped up during the Special Intensive Revision.
The list also includes six ministers, viz., Mangal Pandey (Siwan), Nitin Nabin (Bankipur), Nitish Mishra (Jhanjharpur), Krishna Kumar Mantoo (Amnour), and Prem Kumar (Gaya Town). Nitish Mishra, a scion of former Chief Minister Dr. Jagannath Mishra, will continue his family legacy from Madhubani district.
Of the nine women candidates, Renu Devi and Shreyasi Singh are the most notable ones. Renu Devi, ex Deputy CM, will contest from her Bettiah seat, while Arjuna awardee Shreyasi Singh comes back to seek another term from Jamui. https://www.msn.com/en-in/news/other/bihar-assembly-elections-2025-bjp-releases-first-list-of-71-candidates-deputy-cm-samrat-chaudhary-to-contest-from-tarapur/ar-AA1OqWVY?ocid=BingNewsVerp
BJP Ditches Celebrity Candidates
BJP leaders decided to drop Bhojpuri actor Pawan Singh and folk singer Maithili Thakur from the candidate list.. Party sources maintain that resistance from within necessitated a change of heart, leading the leadership to play safe.
Veteran BJP leader and Bihar Assembly Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav, a six-time MLA, also didn’t figure. Reaching out with calm dignity, Yadav said,
“I am not dissatisfied with being dropped. Let the new generation take charge. The party, the cadres, and the voters have shown me sufficient respect.”
Poll Schedule and Context
Bihar polls in two phases —

Results on November 14.
This initial list discloses the BJP’s game of balancing acts — combining veterans with fresh faces, spearheading women’s representation, and cementing caste mathematics. The party’s election now revolves around continuity, discipline, and ground visibility, the dominant themes as it seeks to grow influence after breaking with JD(U).
With political momentum gaining momentum, Bihar prepares for another high-voltage battle that may redefine alliances and leadership dynamics of the Hindi heartland.
