Just hours after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke at the UN General Assembly and dismissed calls for a ceasefire, Gaza was bombed yet again. Shells and bullets tore through urban neighborhoods, refugee camps, and shelters, tearing families asunder and sending casualties to the hospital.
Casualties in Refugee Camps
At the refugee camp of Nuseirat, nine families of fathers, mothers, and children were all killed in a single attack. Another tent that erected to provide shelter for displaced families also leveled, adding to the death toll. In Gaza City, a building in the neighborhood of Tuffah demolished. Al-Ahly Hospital had a minimum of 11 deaths, most of whom were women and children. Throughout the Shati refugee camp, line-weary civilian relief individuals were under crossfire, an expression of the indiscriminate character of violence.
Hospitals Overwhelmed
Hospitals are at the point of breaking. Al-Awda Hospital and Nasser Hospital staff toil around the clock with critically reduced fuel, medicine, and equipment supplies. Hospitals have reduced to rubble in some cases, with staff doing the best they can in life-and-death emergencies. The timing is particularly heartless. While world leaders making speeches at the UN, family members and children on the ground being Interred by families. Escalating Humanitarian Crisis
The Gaza crisis continues to escalate. Children are losing parents, fathers are losing children, and hospitals are struggling to save lives in the midst of the ordeal. Every time there is an airstrike, it reminds us again of the need for international pressure, humanitarian assistance, and protection of civilians in the Israel-Gaza conflict.
