Himachal Pradesh Landslide in Bilaspur District Claims Lives
A tragic Himachal Pradesh landslide in Bilaspur district on Tuesday killed at least 15 people and left several others trapped.
At least 15 people have died after a huge landslip struck a private bus in Himachal Pradesh’s Bilaspur district on Tuesday. The landslide occurred near the Balughat area of sub-division Jhanduta, where boulders and debris rapidly came crashing down from the hill, completely burying the vehicle. A number of passengers are still feared to be trapped inside the bus while rescue teams continue to search and recover.

Immediately after the incident, President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Union Minister Amit Shah expressed their deep sadness over the loss of life. In addition, Prime Minister Modi also announced an ex gratia of ₹2 lakh for the family of each of the deceased and ₹50,000 to those injured. He stated that rescue and relief operations would continue until every affected person received aid.
Administration Initiates Rapid Rescue Operations
In addition, the district administration also quickly sent emergency teams to the site. Engineers, administration, and police began clearing debris and using machinery to rescue people trapped in the rubble. In addition, local police and volunteers provided medical assistance to the injured.
Chief Minister Sukhu Monitors Situation from Shimla
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu also remained in Shimla, and continued to carefully monitor the situation and have officials expedite rescues. He also reiterated that the injured must be airlifted to medical facilities as soon as possible. In addition, he again directed suitable treatment and proper care for those families affected.
Nadda Tells BJP Workers to Help Victims
Union Minister J.P. Nadda echoed his great sadness about the unfortunate incident. He said he communicated with Chief Minister Sukhu about the service operations. Also, Nadda directed BJP workers to assist the affected families and urged the Bilaspur AIIMS to arrange treatment operations quickly.

As heavy rain was still a risk for more landslides and to enhance the search and rescue, the authorities are on high alert to minimize further dangers.
