Indian Army Strengthened in India Defence Boost
The government approved the Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for the Indian Army in respect of the Nag Missile System Mk-II (NAMIS), Ground-Based Mobile ELINT System (GBMES), and High Mobility Vehicles (HMVs) with Material Handling Crane.
Firstly, NAMIS will augment the Army’s ability to counter enemy combat vehicles, bunkers, and fortifications.
Moreover, GBMES will provide continuous electronic-intelligence reconnaissance of enemy emitters.
Additionally, acquiring HMVs will enhance logistics across multiple terrains.
Indian Navy Acquires Next Generation Hardware
The Navy has been given AoN for the purchase of Landing Platform Docks (LPDs), 30mm Naval Surface Gun (NSG), Advanced Light Weight Torpedoes (ALWT), Electro Optical Infra-Red Search and Track System, and intelligent ammunition for 76mm guns.
LPDs enable amphibious operations, peacekeeping, and disaster relief. ALWT can target conventional, nuclear, and dwarf submarines. As NSG will enhance anti-piracy and low-intensity maritime operations.
Indian Air Force Modernizes
The IAF was granted AoN for the Collaborative Long Range Target Saturation/Destruction System (CLRTS/DS). It can autonomously take off, fly, detect, and drop its payloads in areas of operation.
Domestic Defence Production Supports India Defence Boost
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said domestic defence production scaled to ₹1.5 lakh crore, with ₹33,000 crore being invested from the private sector. This is due to investments that reinforce India’s indigenousness in its defence capabilities.
