Red Fort blast investigation

On November 10, 2021, the Red Fort metro station in Delhi was the site of a bomb blast. According to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the blast was planned ahead of time and involved a vehicle-borne explosive device (VBIED). The blast killed several people and injured many others. As part of its ongoing investigation, the NIA is also focusing on the individuals believed to have assisted in the planning and execution of this attack. As a result of these arrests, the investigation has progressed significantly.
The NIA’s court presentations and the evidence that has been submitted have led to the case being closely monitored by a judge, therefore keeping the investigation active.
On October 22, 2021, the NIA presented Soyab and Amir Rashid Ali to Principal District and Sessions Court Judge Anju Bajaj Chandna. Red Fort blast investigation, The NIA requested an extension in the period for custodial interrogation of the two suspects in order to allow for further analysis of the evidence. The Court granted the NIA’s request and extended the custody of Ali by ten days and of Soyab by the same amount.
According to investigators, both Soyab and Ali were pivotal in the crime scheme. Additionally, investigators believe that this extension will allow them to continue their efforts in identifying missing links, locating the handlers, and confirming the statements made by these individuals.
NIA builds a timeline of the deadly conspiracy
According to investigators, Ali assisted in acquiring the vehicle that used as the explosive device. They claim that Ali traveled to Delhi to facilitate this transaction last year, and that there was a conspiracy between him and the suicide bomber Umar Un Nabi of Pulwama. The vehicle that used in the attack registered under Ali’s name, according to law enforcement officials, which provides further evidence of Ali’s involvement in the bombing incident.
Additionally, officials have forensic evidence that Nabi the driver of the vehicle loaded with explosives. He employed as an Assistant Professor at Al Falah University in Faridabad. Law enforcement officials recovered another vehicle associated with Nabi and are currently conducting further investigations into it.
The NIA has interviewed a total of 73 people, including survivors who injured in the blast, and officials are still in the process of collecting technical evidence and video footage of the incident.
Investigators widen the search for a broader network
According to the National Investigation Agency, Soyab was one of Umar’s logistic support people leading up to the day of the attack. The Agency has alleged that Soyab coordinated the movement of the people involved in the blast and assisted in ground-based actions. There are indications that Soyab was in communication with other people who may still be out of view of law enforcement. As a result, the National Investigation Agency has requested assistance in mapping out Soyab’s entire circle of contacts.
Security Agencies have increased vigilance of key sites after the blast. Joint operations with the Delhi Police, the Jammu & Kashmir Police, the Haryana Police and the Uttar Pradesh Police continue to be conducted. Officers have multiple leads to track down other suspects. Investigations into the incident will continue following the current custodial period of the arrested individuals. The nature of the investigation continues to evolve rapidly as investigators have forensically and otherwise attempted to expose every aspect of the conspiracy leading up to the blast.
