The use of rhetoric in the ongoing U.S.-Iranian conflict has heightened an already precarious situation. A daily tussle of factual claims and counterclaims reflects the nature of the conflict and creates difficulty in ascertaining truth on any given day. The latest conflict took place when President Trump stated that Iran wanted a cease-fire, but Iranian officials quickly contradicted him and asserted that he was falsely claiming that Iran has requested a cease-fire. Trump threatened to continue his military actions towards Iran and linked the cessation of military actions to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

As a result, uncertainty now abounds over diplomatic possibilities. The ongoing conflict will continue to have significant negative effects on the global supply routes for energy. The perception of the markets will continue to be sensitive to the events surrounding the Strait of Hormuz. Furthermore, the political rhetoric from both sides diverges significantly. Therefore, both militarily and through rhetoric, both sides are escalating the situation.
Rising conflict spreads disruption across the region and civilian life
War appears to have gone into a drawn-out period of uncertainty. Various attacks/ interceptions continue throughout all Gulf areas daily. Drones and ballistic missiles have been intercepted by the UAE on numerous occasions; defence officials estimate that over a thousand interceptions have taken place since the start of the conflict. Civilians living in these areas are experiencing fear/disruption on an hourly basis, as well as feeling the effects of blasts occurring in their neighbourhoods (buildings vibrating).
Civilians also appear to be trying to avoid all public areas, with most major social activities being avoided. The travel restrictions have had an enormous impact on the movement of civilians. The UAE has provided transitory passage for more than 1200 Iranians who returned from entering the UAE via transitory routes from other countries due to travel restrictions imposed upon Iranian nationals entering/transiting through the UAE. These restrictions have added to the difficulties/disruptions caused by the mobility/safety of the civilian population.
Trump Iran Tensions Deepen Diplomatic Uncertainty
Statements made by Trump of a military nature were reiterated by him. Trump stated Iran would face increasing military attacks if it did not resume negotiations. Conversely, Iran denies that it has engaged in discussions to establish a ceasefire. This situation points to a breakdown in diplomatic conditions. Analysts report that there is significant confusion regarding negotiation due to a lack of consistent communication.
Also, the conflict raises significant concerns about damage to civilian infrastructure. Numerous non-military facilities were attacked, according to reports. As a result, humanitarian problems are expected to continue to rise in the region.
In conclusion, military actions have caused a cumulative effect of increased military aggression and continued damage to civilian populations.
