Rajesh Ram to Contest from Kutumba

The Congress party on Thursday, October 16, released its first official list of 48 candidates for the 2025 Bihar Assembly polls, with state unit president Rajesh Ram being nominated to contest from the SC-reserved Kutumba constituency.
The declaration is even as seat-sharing talks with the Mahagathbandhan allies such as the RJD are not yet complete. Before the formalization of these deals, the party had already started announcing some candidates on its official social media accounts of its Bihar unit, along with pictures of them accepting nomination certificates.

Strategic Context
The Congress’ initial declarations are an indication of its aggressive strategy towards the Bihar elections 2025, with an intent to consolidate its base before deciding on seat allotments within the Mahagathbandhan. By entering Rajesh Ram, the state unit president, from Kutumba, the party marks the importance of the SC-reserved seats in determining the outcome of polls.
With elections heating up, the first list gives voters a clear picture of the party’s strategic direction and top picks, paving the way for the coming electoral fight in Bihar.
