Nitish Kumar’s Oath Ceremony as Bihar’s Chief Minister for the 10th time on Thursday morning. NDA presents united front ahead of oath ceremony
All the NDA leaders – from the BJP, the LJP(R), HAM-S and the RLM – accompanied Kumar at his meeting with governor Arif Mohammed Khan. The oath ceremony will take place at Gandhi Maidan in Patna at 11:30 am, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP president JP Nadda are expected to attend to mark the political significance of the new government.
BJP chooses Samrat Choudhary to lead the legislature party
The BJP also held a meeting in Patna of its own to select the legislature party leadership. The new MLAs elected Samrat Choudhary to lead them. They also elected Vijay Kumar Sinha to serve as the deputy leader, which increases the odds both will remain Deputy Chief Ministers in the new government, Nitish Kumar Oath Ceremony.
“Samrat and Sinha’s combination both Fit and Hit”
UP Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasal Maurya, who led the race for leadership, expressed an exuberant endorsement of the combination of the leadership duo. He proclaimed that Samrat and Sinha’s partnership is “fit and hit,” and termed the Bihar victory as the fourth significant achievement of the BJP after victory in Haryana, Maharashtra, and Delhi.
Who are Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, the probable names for Deputy Chief Ministers
Samrat Choudhary possesses vast political experience and carries deep caste influence. He is a member of the OBC Koeri community and has occupied many frontline positions in prior governments, including those under Rabri Devi, Jitan Ram Manjhi and Nitish Kumar. He began his political career with the RJD, then moved to JD(U), and quickly rose through the BJP ranks, having managed the finance portfolio in the preceding government.
Vijay Kumar Sinha is from the Bhumihar community. He has also served as Speaker of the Bihar Assembly and was Agriculture Minister. He was involved in intense political tussles during his time serving as agriculture minister, including a high-profile stand-off with RJD leaders during the first phase of the election. Yet, he has prevailed, having received a strong mandate and retaining Lakhisarai.
NDA reinforced by strong electoral mandate
In the Assembly elections, the NDA secured a total of 202 out of 243 seats in Bihar. The BJP won 89 seats, the JD(U) won 85. The LJP(R) won 19, HAM-S won five, and the Rashtriya Lok Morcha won four. Therefore, the NDA goes into government with one of its largest mandates in 20 years.
Nitish Kumar promises to accelerate development
Following his election as leader of the alliance, Kumar committed to a renewed focus on development. He stated that since 2006, Bihar has changed immensely, and he will now speed up development with the support of the central government. There was consensus among his deputies.
Sinha thanks Modi and Shah for their trust
After he elected leader of the legislature, Sinha thanked PM Modi and Amit Shah for their trust in him. He stated that he would work tirelessly to deliver “sushasan se samridhi,” or prosperity through good governance. His comments are confirmatory in terms of the NDA agenda for Bihar for the next five years.
