US President Donald Trump delivered an ultimatum to Hamas, informing the Palestinian militant group that it has “three or four days” to endorse a US-brokered Gaza peace plan — already signed by Israel and backed by the majority of Arab states.
If accepted by Hamas, it is a peacefully forever lasting peace, releasing of Israeli hostages, demilitarization of Hamas, and transfer of Gaza administration. The proposal is not without strings, however, that Hamas considers “impossible” and “pro-Israeli.”

A Peace Deal on the Table
The White House made the 21-point peace plan public recently, a significant diplomatic gesture after almost two years of war. Trump has termed it “a real chance for greatness in the Middle East” supported by Israel, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, UAE, Qatar, and Egypt.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed Israel’s acceptance but warned that rejection by Hamas would mean “Israel will finish the job.” Trump echoed this stance, telling reporters: “We’re just waiting for Hamas. They’re either going to be doing it or not, and if not, it’s going to be a very sad end.”
Hamas in a Dilemma
Hamas has not yet made an official announcement. The movement are making the offer “in good faith” but have criticized the offer as unbalanced with “no legitimate rights for Palestinians,” a senior Hamas official said. Disarmament and handing over administrative responsibility in Gaza are central sticking points.
Hamas leadership from Qatar today has been under intense pressure. Arab leaders have embraced the plan, and Qatar said to insist that Netanyahu apologize for bombing Hamas leaders in September so that the talks could proceed,Trump Gaza Peace Plan Ultimatum.
Taking the Hamas offer would involve surrendering military strength and political control — probably to disintegrate the organization from within. Refusal may instigate further Israeli military strikes.
Human Toll of the War
Because Hamas launched an attack against Israel and murdered around 1,200 and abducted 251 people as of 7 October 2023, the war in Gaza has already killed more than 66,000 Palestinians, Gaza health authorities report. Israeli airstrikes have leveled Gaza City neighborhoods, displacing hundreds of thousands of people.
Among the pillars of the negotiated agreement is the release of hostages. Trump expressed that in the event that Hamas would sign the peace agreement, the hostages would be released within 72 hours — one of the main reasons for receiving popular support and putting pressure on Hamas. https://www.bbc.com/news
Gaza and Israel voices
All of Gaza is desperate. Huda, with her kids and in hiding in Deir Al Balah, declared: “Trump has promised before and everything was fantasy.” Others were desperate and, as Abu Abdallah from Gaza City, declared: “Either peace will occur, or Gaza City will be destroyed.”Trump Gaza Peace Plan Ultimatum
There are also fissures in Israel. The families of hostages have urged Trump to shut down the sale, with a threat that withholding only delays suffering. Netanyahu’s hard-right wing has demanded to keep fighting until Hamas is eliminated and has demanded annexation of the West Bank.
A Turning Point for the Middle East?
The next few days will be telling. Trump set the deadline as a last option for peace as Israel pressed on with land attacks. The Hamas choice will tell the world if it edged closer to a historic truce — or deeper into chaos.
