The conflict in Israel has escalated to airstrikes throughout Iran. The airstrike targeted a bunker located underneath Tehran. According to Israel, this bunker was used by high-ranking officials of the Iranian government. The Israeli Air Force stated that this bunker was located directly underneath the complex of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. The mission was carried out with 50 fighter jets dropping heavy munitions. The pilots reportedly dropped approximately 100 bombs on the bunker. The explosions produced large plumes of smoke that could be observed throughout central Tehran.

An Israeli spokesperson claimed that the bunker was an “Emergency War Command Center”. “The underground bunker was built beneath the compound,” the spokesman said. In addition to the airstrike, Iranian leadership continued to operate from the Supreme Leader’s compound. At this time, Iran has not officially responded to the airstrike. In the last 24 hours, Israeli forces have also conducted airstrikes on Iranian missile sites located near the city of Kermanshah. Witnesses have reported hearing large explosions in multiple areas of Tehran, and all members of the international community are concerned about how these airstrikes will impact the future of the region.
Regional conflict expands as US responds to Israel Iran airstrikes
Simultaneously, the overall conflict continues to spread further across the region. US officials indicated that there will soon be a significant increase in military operations. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth indicated that the number of attacks will increase markedly. As a result, Washington has increased its pressure on Iran as well as its support for Israel. US officials state that at least 1,200 people have been killed in Iran and that those deaths were confirmed during bombardments. Additionally, investigators began to look into the school bombardment, which resulted in a large number of civilian casualties.
Reports indicate that the US military may have been responsible for the bombardment of a girls’ school located in the city of Minab. Iranian diplomats claim that approximately 150 students were killed at the school; however, investigators have not yet determined who is ultimately responsible. Meanwhile, Israel continues to extend its bombardments against Hezbollah targets and is now targeting the southern suburbs of Beirut. Thousands of people are fleeing in mass from the areas around the bombardment. Lebanese authorities have reported casualties and hundreds of persons injured; therefore, tensions in the region are threatening to grow further.
Diplomatic pressure and global reactions intensify
At the same time that military escalation increased, political pressure on Iran also grew. President Trump called on Iranian troops to confess their loyalty to him and promised them “total immunity” if they complied, but warned them that he would ultimately bring about their “certain death” otherwise. Meanwhile, U.S. military officials prepared for more military deployments. Washington intends to carry out additional operations from allied bases located in the region. Many European countries have taken a more cautious view towards what is going on in Iran. Germany issued a warning to Iran not to attack other countries, but it does not believe there is a direct threat to NATO at this time.
Many humanitarian concerns are also rising in the areas around the locations of the conflict. The World Health Organization stated that medical supplies in Gaza are critically low and that medical facilities are having issues with shortages of both medicine and fuel. Evacuations of foreigners are also taking place. The British government is chartering flights for its citizens from Oman and getting ready for more extensive instability in the region.
