An ongoing educational debacle is now becoming a source for political engagement. Arvind Kejriwal has requested the young Generation Z in India to hold the government accountable. His plea, however, extends beyond the criticism of a single test; he relates multiple instances of leaked papers to an epidemic of distrust in the education system at large.

As a result, students’ dissatisfaction is being used as a catalyst for political action. At the same time, the reported leak of the NEET-UG continues to generate concern at a national level, which has led to this issue being part of a larger discussion about the legitimacy of institutions. As a result, the educational controversy has turned into a significant political issue.
Repeated exam leaks deepen mistrust among students and families
Kejriwal has long maintained that repeated leaks of examination papers damage confidence in examination processes for those preparing to sit competitive examinations (over the last decade). As a result, millions of students and their families feel concern and uncertainty. Each paper leak also raises issues of fairness/merit; therefore, the credibility of high-stakes assessments is in question. Kejriwal questioned the ability of past investigations to investigate previous leaks, given how few punishments have been handed out as a consequence. Consequently, frustrations extend past the individual leak; repeated examination paper leaks are seen as representative of a systemic breakdown of long-standing processes.
NEET Paper Leak Becomes a Call for Youth Accountability
At the same time, Kejriwal noted that there have been many examples around the world of young people using politics to bring about large-scale change. He specifically referenced actions in Bangladesh and Nepal, where young people have helped change those countries’ governments. “If Gen Z in countries like Bangladesh and Nepal could change the government, then Indian youth could also ensure accountability in cases of paper leaks,” said Kejriwal. This way of presenting the student body as citizens with a stake in democracy builds a narrative that positions this type of situation as a civic matter and gives young voters a means to hold public officials accountable. The message resonated with a generation’s experience of having a large amount of uncertainty surrounding examination processes. As a result, the central theme of the political message becomes youth mobilization.
Probe criticism and political allegations intensify the debate
Kejriwal criticized the Central Bureau of Investigation’s involvement, saying a CBI investigation “won’t be fruitful.” He cited multiple AAP ministers who’d been arrested following a police investigation, and claimed previous rounds of police investigations produced limited results. Kejriwal also added that there have been a number of paper leakage incidents in BJP-ruled states. The issues have evolved from being administrative issues to political issues. The students are still waiting for credible, viable solutions to their problem. The NEET controversy has therefore expanded to include education as well as governance and accountability. Consequently, the NEET scandal will serve as an indicator of public confidence.
